Photonovella’s instead of regular brochures
In the latest version of the Dutch magazine for medicine (August 2016), Ruth Koops van ‘t Jagt (RUG, the Netherlands) published an article about the effects of photonovella’s in the support of people with low levels of health literacy. With a systematic review and experiences in other countries at its basis, Ruth and her team developed a series of photonovella’s. They did this together with the target group. Their input was very valuable in the development of the novella’s. While still being in the midst of several evaluations, the first results are promising. Photonovella’s can make health information more attractive and accessible people with low levels of health literacy. Further research into how and in which form photonovella’s can be used and for which target groups (maybe also professionals?) they are suitable is needed.
